I absolutely love the fall.
It’s cozy, serene and the perfect weather to cuddle up with my pups.
Besides, I’m a sucker for the pumpkin spice latte by Starbucks.
It’s a great time to practice some self-care, catch up on some spooky/cozy reads and just experience the sweet bliss of autumn.
I’m all for making the best of the moment, so I’ve compiled this super looooong list of fall activities you’re going to love!
Whether you like staying indoors or are adventurous, you’re going to find something in this list that you’ll love doing!
Grab your hot beverage and let’s get started!

1. Have a cozy fall-themed spa day at home
Treat yourself to a DIY spa day with face masks, a relaxing bath, and your favorite cozy read.
If you’re tired of constantly working or spending time with people, use this opportunity to unwind and actually relax.
I got this beautiful autumn candle from Yankee that I am going to light this autumn.
2. Visit a haunted house/spooky trail
I got this idea from scary movies, of course.
If you love thrills, go and visit a haunted house or spooky trail.
Usually, these attractions often open just for the fall season and provide a fun way to celebrate Halloween!
3. Create a fall-themed cocktail
You can browse recipes on Pinterest/YouTube.
Mix up a fall-inspired cocktail to enjoy on a chilly evening.
Try Spiced Bourbon, Mulled Wine, or Apple Cider Sangria.
Honestly, you can let your creativity go wild for this one.
Even better if you can bake your own spiced rum cake to go with the cocktail.
Since I bake a spice rum cake during Christmas, I soak some dried fruits in rum during this time to give the cake a real punch. Ha ha.
4. Make a fall wreath for your front door
I love doing this because I love working with my hands.
Besides Amazon has some beautiful wreath supplies that you can get and it’s not difficult to make either.
You can watch a bunch of videos and really, there is no wrong way to create these!
5. Attend a harvest festival
Harvest festivals celebrate the bounty of the season with everything we love – food, music, crafts and activities like pumpkin carving and scarecrow building.
It doesn’t matter if you’re going alone or with friends and family – there is something for everyone.
It’s a lovely way to integrate with the community and just talk to people too.
Go to one – you’ll enjoy how festive it is!
6. Buy some beautiful fall-themed books to read in your free time
I actually read quite a bit because I don’t go out much.
And as much as I love reading Kindle versions, I cannot resist books with beautiful covers and well-written stories that need to be held in my hands.
I bought Pumpkin Heads the second it was released on Amazon because it’s so pretty!
Another book that’s taking the world by storm right now is The Pumpkin Spice Cafe and it’s quite a cozy read.
7. Make your own Autumn Potpourri
By now, you’d have figured I love warm smells.
Fill your home with scents of fall by making your potpourri. You can use dried fruits, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and essential oils to make a beautiful fall fragrance for your home.
It’s so rewarding!
8. Create a fall-themed vision board
The year is almost ending and it’s the perfect time to reflect on your goals and decide what you want to work for.
I like changing up my vision board every 4-6 months.
Use magazine clippings, photos, and other materials to create a vision board focused on your goals and aspirations for the fall season.
It’s a geat way to stay motivated and inspired.
9. Attend a fall-themed workshop
You’ll have to look for these.
We have apps where I live so I can check out what’s happening around me.
Look for local workshops on fall-themed crafts, cooking or gardening.
It’s a fun way to go out and meet people and do something fun with your hands!
Plus, you’ll learn a whole lot and who knows, you might even discover a hobby you like doing!
This is how I fell in love with cooking.
10. Write a heartfelt letter/card to someone
I have always loved writing letters ever since I was little and saved every birthday card I was given.
It’s easy to send a WhatsApp message but a hand-written letter is such a beautiful way to show someone you love them.
take some time to write heartfelt letters to your loved ones – maybe your partner or your best friend.
You can even give them a tiny gift to go with the letter to make their holiday more special.
11. Go to a farmer’s market
I love checking out organic produce because cooking is so therapeutic.
It inspires me to eat healthily because I take an interest in cooking my meals, and I end up walking a lot and meeting many new people.
You will find everything from pumpkins to squash to applies, perfect for your fall recipes.
It’s also a fun way to learn more about small businesses.
It’s another way of slowing down and living a more Studio Ghibli life. 😉
12. Go stargazing
I’ve done this alone and with my partner.
And I recommend it to anyone who just wants to sit under the stars and let their mind wander.
The crisp fall air usually brings clear skies – so it’s perfect for stargazing.
Bring a blanket and maybe some bug spray, find a quiet spot away from the city lights (the light pollution will block out the stars) and enjoy the night sky!
13. Bake a pumpkin pie from scratch
This is something that’s been on my list for a long time.
I did not expect it to be so tasty, I’d have made a bigger pie, honestly.
Nothing says fall like a homemade pumpkin pie.
Baking from scratch allows you to enjoy the whole process and the beautiful aroma of spices like cinnamon and nutmeg – filling your home with a cozy, warm scent.
14. Carve a pumpkin
Carving pumpkins is a classic fall-activity, I know.
But why not spice it up by going one step further and painting the pumpkin too?
Get creative with your designs – whether spooky or artistic.
15. Go apple picking
I love doing this because it’s such a lovely way to be present and just enjoy the moment.
Visit an orchard to pick your own apples.
It’s a lovely way to enjoy the weather.
And now is your chance to use this delicious fruit to make your own apple pie.
Honestly, what’s better than homemade apple pie?
NOTHING.
16. Have a bonfire and roast marshmallows
I’ve done this with my cousins and it’s more fun during the fall.
Because you get to tell ghost stories that will scare their pants off.
Gather friends or families for a bonfire.
If you live in an apartment, you can rent an Airbnb to do this (that’s what I do).
Roast marshmallows for s’mores and that contrast between the cold wind and warmth of the fire is just lovely!
17. Visit a winery for a Fall Wine Tasting
Fall is a good time to visit a winery, as many are harvesting grapes.
And because it’s chilly, the wine will leave you warm and giggly.
You can enjoy a wine tasting, tour the vineyard and maybe even participate in a grape stomp if you’re lucky!
Don’t underestimate how much fun you’ll have doing something so simple.
18. Create a fall scented candle!
Make your own candles if you dig DIY.
You can use fall scents like pumpkin spice, apple or cinnamon.
It’s a fun and easy craft that almost anyone can do.
And the best part is, you’ll add a personal touch to your home without breaking the bank.
19. Start a gratitude journal
Autumn is the perfect time to kickstart your self-care journal.
I never thought much of gratitude journals but using this one changed my life.
It made me feel more appreciative and less stressed.
And every time I’d worry about something, I’d flip through my gratitude journal and realize that 99% of my life is quite alright.
Start one, it will change your perspective completely.
20. Bake pumpkin spice donuts
I never thought the day would come where I’d make these.
I found this recipe online and I fell in love with the result.
It’s honestly worth making if you love baking and want to make something fall-themed that will reward your tastebuds.
21. Organize a fall-themed bookclub
I love books so I’m not guilty for this one.
Gather a group of friends to read and discuss fall-themed books. Paire it with cozy drinks like hot chocolate and snacks for a perfect evening.
Speaking of hot chocolate…
22. Create a scrapbook
I wanted to do this for my dogs because I wanted something physical.
You can do any theme you like – maybe one of your school/college days, one of your vacations, or one of all the places you’ve visited.
Decide on a theme or story you want your album to tell, then arrange the photos chronologically or by category to create a cohesive flow.
Choose a photo album or scrapbook that reflects your style, and consider adding personal touches like captions, decorative fall stickers, or small mementos like autumn leaves and pressed flowers.
You can also write a sentence under each photo – that’s a bit of work, but it’s fun!
As you assemble the album, take your time to reflect on the memories each photo represents, turning your collection into a cherished keepsake that you can revisit and share with your friends!
23. Paint a fall landscape
I don’t know the first thing about painting, but I love the process because it’s so freeing and creative.
I didn’t want to make too big a mess, so I settled for thick watercolor stock paper and painted sceneries to make fall-themed postcards.
You can create any fall-themed piece, just look to Pinterest for inspiration.
24. Knit or crochet a scarf or blanket
This is one of my favorite activities to do in the evening while I’m listening to some soft music by the Carpenters.
I actually have knitted a whole scarf and I didn’t use a very difficult pattern either.
Thanks to Youtube, I was able to watch a video and once I learned the basics, I just got to knitting and I was so happy when I was done. It took me a whole week, but it was time well spent!
You can get this Beginners Crochet Kit like I did – it’s quite lovely!
25. Do a puzzle at home with a fall theme
I love puzzles.
I usually get the 1000-piece ones because I can finish them in a day and it’s a beautiful way to pass the time!
The best part is, the good ones are not expensive at all!
I got this one to celebrate the fall and I loved doing it!
26. Have a fall-themed movie marathon with your friends
Here’s a nice list of Fall-themed movies I found.
How many of these have you watched?
You can binge-watch alone or do it with your friends, there are no rules!
If you love horror, you can watch a whole bunch of horror movies too.
27. Play a murder mystery!
Since my partner and I love hosting game nights, this is one we really enjoy doing.
Invite your friends over for an evening of suspense, where they can step into character and work together to solve a fictional crime.
Set the scene with autumnal decorations, such as pumpkins, candles, and dried leaves, to create a warm yet eerie atmosphere.
Serve seasonal treats like spiced cider and pumpkin pie if you really want to stick to the theme.
Whether you choose a classic detective theme or something with a supernatural twist, you’re going to have a lot of fun!
Take photos so you can remember this night forever.
28. Make a set of fall-themed cards
Making greeting cards is fun because you get to use colorful craft paper, scissors, and glue.
I feel like a kid again whenever I make paper crafts – that’s why I loved Art Attack and watched it every time it was on!
You can use all sorts of fall motifs like leaves, pumpkins and acorns – these cards are perfect for sending to family/friends.
29. Start a journal
You can use any book you have lying around.
I think this is one thing everybody is guilty of – collecting notebooks and not knowing what to do with them.
Lucky for you, I have written a post on 49 ways to use old notebooks.
But starting a journal is a beautiful experience.
Document your thoughts, experiences and goals for the fall season – there are no rules really.
Journaling doesn’t just reduce anxiety, it also helps you see clarity and become more self-aware.
30. Decorate your porch with fall decor
Go crazy.
Transform your front porch with pumpkins and a welcome mat.
You could just get this combo from Amazon, I think it will look lovely!
Once you’ve completed your creation, it can be painted, glazed, or left in its natural state!
31. Create autumn leaf coasters
Use pressed leaves and resin to create unique fall-themed coasters.
I learned how to do this in a workshop and it was so much fun, I wanted to share it in this post.
They’re a great way to bring a bit of nature indoors and add a fall touch to your home.
32. Prepare a harvest dinner of seasonal veggies
My partner and I love food.
We look for opportunities to spice things up for meals.
And I got this idea from a TV show.
Create a meal featuring the best of fall’s produce like roasted squash, sweet potatoes, and Brussels sprouts.
You can pair it with wild rice. And finish the dinner with pumpkin pie of course.
33. Participate in a fall-themed 5K or Fun Run
I don’t run so this is something I just picked up from my partner’s friends/
Many communities host themed runs during the fall often benefiting charities.
Dress up in a fun cotime and join others in a festive run or walk through scenic routes.
34. Birdwatching
One of the best activities you can do by yourself is bird-watching.
Many birds migrate in the fall, making it the perfect time for birdwatching.

Experience the beauty of fall on horseback.
Many stables offer guided trail rides that take you through scenic areas, allowing you to enjoy the season from a new perspective.

The cool weather is ideal for enjoying a meal outdoors!
37. Take a bike ride on a scenic trail
The weather is beautiful and you need to go outdoors.
Enjoy the cool, crisp air and beautiful fall scenery by going for a bike ride on a local trail.
It’s such a great way to get some exercise while soaking in the season.
38. Make a batch of spiced pear jam
Spiced pear jam is a beautiful way to preserve the flavors of fall.
It is ABSOLUTELY delicious on toast, in desserts or as a topping for cheese and crackers.
Give it a try, if you make too much, you can gift it to a friend.
39. Create a fall-themed quilted blanket
This one is for people who enjoy sewing.
make a cozy quilt using fall-colored fabrics like red, yellow, orange and brown.
It’s a beautiful and functional project that you can enjoy all season long!

Oktoberfests events feature traditional German food, music and beer.
It’s a lively way to experience the cultural side of fall.
I did this with my friend last year and I had so much fun. Give it a try!
41. Visit a corn maze
I got this idea from the TV show Bones.
It’s tougher than it sounds, trust me.
Get lost in towering stalks of corn as you navigate your way to the exit.
It’s a nice way to enjoy the fall especially if you’re up to a light-hearted challenge.
42. Create a Fall centrepiece
Arrange small gourds, pumpkins, and candles in a decorative tray or bowl to create a stunning fall centerpiece for your dining table or mantle.
You don’t always need to do store-bought.
This is why this holiday is so much fun – it brings out the craftsy spirit in you.
43. Make a batch of cranberry orange muffins
I actually tried this in a hotel and that’s how I discovered them. I then found John Kanell on Youtube who makes the best recipes (I love all his recipes) and I followed his muffin recipe and they were friggin’ delicious.
I highly recommend them!
44. Go for a hike
Visit a nearby state or national park to hike, camp or simply enjoy the natural beauty of fall.
Many parks offer special fall programs, including ranger-led hikes and educational talks.
It’s nice!
45. Make homemade pumpkin butter
As you’ve probably discovered by now, I love food.
So, pumpkin butter is an absolute must for me during autumn.
This is so tasty on toast, I kid you not.
I followed this recipe from start to finish and I loved it!
46. Create care packages for loved ones
I have 2 girl friends who are very close to me, so if I don’t do something for them in Autumn, I’ll make them a Christmas Care Package.
You can really use your imagination for this one.
But usually, I combine homemade treats, candles and cozy socks.
You can give them to your parents too. It’s a wonderful way to say thank you for them being in your lives!
47. Volunteer at a Community Garden
Check to see if you can participate in these in your local area.
Many community gardens need help preparing for the winter

Hayrides are a classic fall activity.
Whether it’s a leisurely ride through a farm or a haunted hayride for a bit of a scare – it’s a fun way to enjoy the season.

Create a simple bird feeder using pinecones, peanut butter (this surprised me, but it’s legit), and bird seed.

Hang it in your yard to attract birds, providing them with a food source as the weather cools and giving you a chance to enjoy bird watching right from your window.
55. Do a photoshoot near a covered bridge
Take a scenic drive or bike ride to visit a historic covered bridge.
These charming structures are often surrounded by beautiful fall foliage, making them perfect for a leisurely outing and some great photo opportunities!
